Toyota might have been behind in the EV revolution a little, but the company is still pushing forward with new concepts that show off its vision for the future of personal transportation. Its latest concept comes in the form of the new Toyota FT-Me, which is designed for those who live in dense cities, and who could benefit from something that’s as compact as possible.
Despite its absolutely miniature size, the FT-Me can actually seat two people. Even better, the passenger seat can fold down, allowing for the storage of larger items when needed. The vehicle is just over 8 feet long, which should help make it more maneuverable in tight spaces.
The design of the vehicle is perhaps a little ahead of its time though, with its futuristic, angular build and black-and-chrome color scheme – but you’ll have to decide for yourself if that vision of the future is a future you want.
There are some neat design touches to it. It’s specifically designed to give the driver 360-degree visibility, ensuring they can properly see everything that’s happening around them. That can be helpful, given the fact that the FT-Me is so small, and it’s designed as a potential entry-level option for new drivers.
And, it’s built with sustainability in mind. According to Toyota, the FT-Me consumes three times less energy per kilometer than a high-capacity EV, and it has a solar panel roof that can give the main battery 20-30 kilometers of electric range per day.
The FT-Me is still a concept, and there’s no word on if or when it will get a wide release. For more information, visit toyota.eu.
