Software defined problems at Volvo


The switch to electric vehicles (EVs) means significantly more software is deployed in new vehicles compared to their internal combustion engine (ICE) powered counterparts. Indeed, the term ‘software-defined vehicle’ has rapidly become part of automotive parlance. But as car companies move away from being assemblers of highly sophisticatedly engineered and manufactured products, they have faced new challenges, not entirely unexpectedly, but seemingly much more complex to address than they had anticipated.
