Angel Reese won the Style Influencer of the Year award at the 2024 FNAAs on Wednesday in New York. The Chicago Sky player selected a black Area suit consisting of a single-breasted blazer and split trousers, adding on a mesh corset underneath.
“I’m happy to be here and not be recognized just as an athlete, but as a role model as well,” Reese told WWD. “That’s the most important thing to me.”
Reese was recognized for her collaboration with Reebok, which plans to debut her own signature sneaker in 2026.
“They let me have my own creative control,” Reese said. “To know that they really love me and genuinely don’t want to change who I am, they represent everything that I do.”
Reese was styled by Jermaine Daley, fashion editor at Hero and Heroine magazines. The WNBA star wore her dark tresses in waves with full fringe, while her makeup consisted of a smokey eye, rosy blush and a nude lip.
On the red carpet, Reese caught up with FNAA presenter Law Roach, who was recently in London for the British Fashion Awards.
“It’s always fun when like-minded people gather, all my fashion family and friends,” he told WWD. “London is such a hub of creativity and new talent, so I’ve always been attracted to that city.”
Roach was recently the subject of a “Saturday Night Live” skit called “It Girl Thanksgiving,” which saw guest host Charli XCX portray Victoria Beckham and cast member Bowen Yang parody Marc Jacobs.
“He might have been spot on,” Roach said of Kenan Thompson, who brought his own version of the acclaimed image architect to life. “I was so shocked and surprised, but also really flattered. I feel like I want to go on and play myself though, so I would love to be able to do that.”
