Queen Letizia of Spain Adds a Touch of Sparkle to a Shirtdress at the Opera

Queen Letizia of Spain put her own take on holiday season-timed sparkle while out in Bilbao. When the royal attended the premiere of the opera “Il Trittico” at the Euskalduna Palace on Friday, Nov. 29, she embraced subdued glamour.

Queen Letizia wore a beige Georgette shirtdress with tonal sequin stripes along the front and collar. She completed her look with a tonal clutch, a pair of matching pointed-toe slingback pumps in patent leather, and hoop earrings with dangling pink stones. The look, much like Queen Letizia’s trademark style, puts a contemporary spin on a classic silhouette.

Midi lengths have been a favorite of Queen Letizia as of late. In October, she stepped out in a midi knit dress from Galcon Studio that featured a fresh take on florals with two cream flowers on the front. Made from 100% Merino Wool, the dress featured an evasé silhouette, a crew neckline and three-quarter sleeves. She paired the midi dress with a belt at the waist, matching pointed-toe navy shoes, a small black top-handle handbag, and Yanes floral stud earrings. She wore it to the inauguration of a new exhibit in Madrid — “Goya X Lita Cabellut. The Follies. Wretched Humanity, The Fault Is Yours”— and it wasn’t the dress’s first appearance; she also wore it for royal engagements in March 2022, April 2023, and last March.

Queen Letizia also opted for a midi dress in October when she — along with the Crown Princess Leonor of Spain, King Felipe VI of Spain, and Princess Sofia — attended a concert prior to the 2024 “Princesa De Asturias” Awards at the Prince Felipe Auditorium. Queen Letizia wore a navy blue Roland Mouret gown that featured statement padded shoulders and a cinched waist for the evening event. She paired the dress, which also had an asymmetric, ruched detailing on the bodice and shoulders, with a gold metallic clutch, pointed-toe sling back kitten heels by Magrit, a Coreterno ring, and Aldao 1911 Madrid earrings — a gift from King Felipe VI on the birth of Princess Leonor.
