Mindy Kaling Goes Edgy in A.L.C. Leather Look for ‘Stephen Colbert’ Appearance, Talks MasterClass and More

Mindy Kaling favored edgy attire for her visit to “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” on Tuesday in New York City. The actress, writer and producer discussed her new MasterClass series on writing and more with the eponymous host.

Kaling opted for an edgy look, wearing a strapless black leather top and coordinated skirt courtesy of A.L.C. “The Office” alum’s look featured a top with a center seam that splits at the hem, creating a structured take on corset dressing.

Kaling coordinated the strapless top with her skirt, which featured a similar leather make and subtly exposed seams. Kaling complemented her black leather ensemble with pointed-toe pumps in the same black tone with red bottoms.

Founded in 2009 by Andrea Lieberman, A.L.C. specializes in women’s clothing, creating modern silhouettes with classic design elements that ultimately yield a wardrobe based on confidence and self-expression.

When it came to her accessories, Kaling opted for jewelry pieces, including rings, bracelets and a bold necklace by Shukra Jewels. For her glam, Kaling’s hair was styled with soft curls and a side part, which cascaded down her shoulders. Her makeup included bold brows, a smokey eye and a touch of color with a red lip.

Prior to her appearance on “The Late Show,” Kaling had another high-profile engagement announcing the nominees for the 2025 Gold Globe Awards alongside Morris Chestnut on Monday. Kaling opted for the complete opposite end of the color spectrum for her announcing duties, wearing a dress courtesy of Rachel Gilbert.

Along with her public engagements, Kaling has been busy behind the scenes. Not only is she the subject of a TV writing MasterClass, Kaling recently became an investor in the skin care brand Lion Pose, founded by Silicon Valley alums Madhu Punjabi and Nisha Phatak.

“My decision to come on board Lion Pose was simple,” Kaling said in a statement last year. “I found an unbeatable product that was backed by a vision I have always believed in, and one that has informed everything I do in my career. That representation and inclusion are just good business.”
