Kerry Washington was seen leaving ABC Studios on Wednesday following her appearance on “The View” to promote her new film, “The Six Triple Eight,” which premiered on Dec. 6. The actress opted for a colorful look, wearing an ensemble by Italian fashion house Missoni.
Washington’s outfit featured a floor-length, striped dress that played with a vertical pattern in varying tones of black, beige, burnt orange and white. The fitted silhouette was complemented by a high neckline, lending a sleek and elongated finish. Layered over the dress, Washington added a black oversized coat, which balanced the outfit’s structured base with its relaxed tailoring. She accessorized with black heeled boots that added height and a contemporary edge to the look. Completing the ensemble, Washington carried a black shoulder bag featuring a crescent shape, matching her monochromatic outerwear.
“The Six Triple Eight,” directed and written by Tyler Perry, tells the story of the first and only all-Black Women’s Army Corps unit to serve overseas during World War II. The film sheds light on the groundbreaking contributions of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, a group of women who were tasked with clearing a massive backlog of mail meant for U.S. troops. Despite facing discrimination and challenging conditions, the unit successfully ensured that letters and packages reached soldiers, boosting morale during the war.
Earlier this month, Washington was honored with her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Emmy-winning actress was joined by her parents, Earl and Valerie, along with Shonda Rhimes and Tyler Perry. For the occasion, Washington wore a sleeveless black gown by Giambattista Valli, which paid homage to Audrey Hepburn’s iconic look from the 1961 film “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”
