JJ heated towel rail by Ludovica Serafini and Roberto Palomba for Tubes

Dezeen Showroom: designers Ludovica Serafini and Roberto Palomba have created a slimline, minimalist heated towel rail for Italian design company Tubes.

Named after the shapes visible in the structure when viewed from the side, the JJ towel rail consists of two heated shelves with a concealed slot from which to hang towels or bathrobes.

The JJ heated towel rail is designed to be functional as well as beautiful

Serafini and Palomba took inspiration from the minimalist sculptures of American artist Donald Judd for the design, which is made of aluminium – a fully recyclable material – and is available in 140 RAL colours.

Tubes intends for the product to give residential bathrooms a spa-like feel, enabling people to enjoy the indulgent feeling of using pre-warmed towels after bathing.

The product is low-voltage enough to be used inside a walk-in shower or above a bathtub, and Tubes sees it as a good option for the wellness and nautical industries as well as the home.

“JJ is a heating object which brings together iconic appeal and functionality, representing another leap forward in the type-based research of the Tubes brand,” said Tubes.
