Dr. Jill Biden chose a lilac blazer to accompany her husband, U.S. President Joe Biden, on his departure from the White House in Washington, D.C., to Chicago, where they are both expected to speak during the Democratic National Convention on Monday night.

Many politicians, including Vice President Kamala Harris and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, have worn purple outfits in significant events for U.S. politics, including Joe Biden’s inauguration in January 2021. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York was also seen wearing purple in Chicago ahead of the DNC on Monday.

Jill Biden is known for often wearing Ralph Lauren in public, showing her support for American designers. She notably wore the brand at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony in July, as well as during a state dinner for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June 2023 and at the coronation of King Charles III in May 2023.

Kamala Harris will kick off the Democratic National Convention on Monday. Approximately 5,000 delegates are expected to attend the four-day event, with guests including former U.S. Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. Joe Biden and his wife will join Hillary Clinton, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Rep. James E. Clyburn, New York Governor Kathy Hochul and more as speakers on the convention’s first night.
