Kiernan Shipka was one of the many famous faces who took in the Miu Miu show during Paris Fashion Week — and it was one for the books.
“It was one of my favorite show going experiences that I’ve ever had, because there’s just this really incredible palpable energy that they create in there,” Shipka said. “I feel like there’s always so much anticipation and excitement around that show, and it was so wonderful, and the surprises were just delightful. I mean, every surprise guest was amazing. You could just feel the energy and actually see people’s jaws dropping throughout the show, and it was amazing. It was really memorable.”
The show’s surprises included none other than Willem Dafoe walking the runway, which Shipka says was as cool to experience from the front row as to be expected.
“There was a shift. It was so cool. You could just feel everybody internally, and maybe also externally, freaking out,” she said. “I desperately pulled out my phone as quickly as possible. And then I tried to get another photo at the end, but I tragically had my selfie camera open.”
Of the looks, the various coats and belts were favorites.
“I can definitely see myself wearing those,” she said.
Shipka opted for a pencil skirt paired with a shrunken letterman knit jacket, oxfords and light tinted shades.
“I went to the fitting with no real expectations as to what direction I was going to go in. I mean, I know that I always love Miu Miu, and that it can feel kind of surprising. The vibe of a Miu Miu look can go so many different ways,” she said. “And I went in with an open mind, not really knowing what I wanted to go for. I was really first pulled to the skirt, and then saw the letterman jacket, put it all on together, tossed on the Oxfords, and it just felt like a very sort of classic Miu Miu look and vibe.”
The shades were what tied it all together.
“There are some sunglasses where there’s an immediate confidence boost that comes with wearing them for some reason, and those specific sunglasses have that energy,” she said.
Shipka is gearing up for a busy fall and winter, with movies “The Last Showgirl,” “Red One” and “Sweethearts” all being released.
“The next couple months is pretty press. That was a really fun part about this particular week, was that I kind of knew that I could keep my eye out for particular things,” she said of Miu Miu. “I think I got a lot of general inspiration from the show just because I think there’s this cool factor that is hard to explain in words, but it’s just so there.”
