Gabriela Hearst Names Vice President of Communications

TOGETHER AGAIN: Gabriela Hearst has hired Thomas Klein as vice president, communications, a new role at her fashion house.

He starts Thursday, reporting to Hearst and also working in close collaboration with Thierry Colin, chief executive officer of the American brand, synonymous with sustainable luxury.

Klein already worked with Hearst in his previous role as PR director at Chloé, where Hearst recently wrapped a fruitful three-year collaboration, having helped transform the company into a purpose-led organization that made huge strides in its use of low-impact materials.

Klein will be based in Hearst’s Milan office.

The Frenchman brings 15 years of experience working with various fashion and luxury brands. Before Chloé, he spent four years as PR manager for Dries Van Noten in Paris.

Klein also worked as an account director at two prominent public relations agencies in Paris: Karla Otto and Relative MO, where he worked with the likes of Off-White, Iris Van Herpen and Ami Paris.

Born in Uruguay, Hearst is a serial fashion entrepreneur, having established her namesake luxury house in 2015, based on the principles of timelessness, quality and sustainability.

Last November, Hearst opened her first Los Angeles store in Beverly Hills, the third to open after New York in 2018 and London in 2019.

Hearst, whose collections are often inspired by artistic female heroines, costumed Arielle Smith’s female-first version of the classic “Carmen,” which had its world premiere at the San Francisco Ballet in early April.
