At Tuesday’s Paris Olympics women’s team finals, gymnasts from Simone Biles to Suni Lee stepped out sporting iconic beauty looks.
At the event, eight teams competed, including the U.S., which took home the gold medal; Italy, which took home the silver medal; Brazil, which took home the bronze medal; Romania; Britain; China; Japan, and Canada. While each team’s uniquely bedazzled uniforms made a splash as always, standout beauty looks and accessories were also on display.
Perhaps as expected, Olympic legend Biles sported her go-to top knot. Similar to her understated hairstyle, teammate Lee opted for simple glam with glossy pink lips and a sleek bun, though her long almond-shaped nails, courtesy of Kiss for which she is an ambassador, stood out. Jordan Chiles completed her routines with a patriotic bow, a deep red lip and a graphic white eyeliner across her crease.
Chiles wasn’t the only one sporting a bow. Although the balletcore trend has recently popularized hair bows, gymnasts have often donned the accessory. Jade Carey of Team USA also wore a sparkly silver bow.
While many gymnasts in the past, including Biles, have opted for hair-colored bobby pins to hold their ‘dos in place, this year’s cohort opted for a bit more fun. Team China wore neon barrettes, some shaped like stars. Members from Team Japan and Team Romania also showed off colorful clips. For these same teams, colorful scrunchies that matched the leotards were also a go-to.
Similarly, many chose colorful eye shadow to match their ensembles — members of Team China wore red and gold; members of Team Japan wore blue, and Rebeca Andrade of Brazil donned one of the most boldest eye looks of the day, replete with gold glitter, black graphic liner and tiny crystals.
Although clips are a must-have for sleek strands, some, including Carey and Hezley Rivera of Team USA and Ellie Black of Team Canada, employed double braids along the scalp to anchor their hairstyles. Team Italy kept things simple with matching top knots.
