Daniel Heckscher announced as Stockholm Furniture Fair director

Former Note Design Studio architect Daniel Heckscher will take over from Hanna Nova Beatrice as director for Stockholm Furniture Fair and Stockholm Design Week.

Heckscher, who was previously an interior architect, designer and partner at local firm Note Design Studio, will lead next year’s design calendar events in the Swedish capital.

Heckscher to bring “insight and innovation”

“I am thrilled to take on this new role and continue the legacy of Hanna Nova Beatrice, the former director, whose vision revitalized Stockholm Furniture Fair and Stockholm Design Week”, Heckscher said.

“These events are pillars in the Scandinavian design world, and I look forward to working closely with the team, the exhibitors, and the entire design community to create even more impactful and inspiring experiences,” he added.

Stockholm Design Week is organised by and coincides with the Stockholm Furniture Fair tradeshow, which takes place each February. The fair is widely considered as Scandinavia’s leading platform for furniture and lighting design.

Heckscher will replace Nova Beatrice, who was the fair and design week’s director for over two and a half years, to ensure the event remains a “leading platform” in design.

We are confident that Daniel Heckscher will bring strategic insight and innovation to our events,” Stockholm Design Event business area manager Chicie Lindgren said.

“As we look to the future, his expertise and vision will be invaluable in ensuring that Stockholm Furniture Fair and Stockholm Design Week remain leading platforms for the design industry, and at the forefront of the global design conversation.”

Upcoming edition to honour Faye Toogood

Next year, Stockholm Furniture Fair will take place from 4 to 8 February, while Stockholm Design Week will run from 3 to 9 February.

The 2025 edition will welcome British designer Faye Toogood, who will bring her “multidisciplinary approach” to the fair as its guest of honour, the organiser said.

Milan-based studio Formafantasma created an interactive installation using “minimal resources” to mark its turn as guest of honour for the fair’s 2024 edition.

In October 2023, organiser Stockholmsmässan announced that the venue for the annual tradeshow is set to be sold and demolished as the city of Stockholm plans to create a new city district on its grounds. The plans are currently ongoing.
