Christina Aguilera Gives Holiday Glam an Edge in H&M Metallic HotPants and Thigh-high Boots at the Brand’s Time Square Flagship Reopening

Christina Aguilera gave holiday dressing an edgy, pop star twist on holiday dressing at the H&M Times Square flagship reopening on Thursday in New York City. The Grammy-winning singer paired her signature style with pieces from the Swedish retailer.

For the occasion, Aguilera chose a winter-inspired look featuring metallic accents and a sensual touch. The “Beautiful” singer wore H&M Studio holiday capsule minishorts in metallic gold, standing out against her darker black wardrobe pieces.

Aguilera styled a fitted black T-shirt with a sleek double-breasted coat layered on top. She paired the ensemble with Sheertex ultra-strong sheer tights and dramatic over-the-knee pointed-toe boots — all courtesy of H&M.

Aguilera posed for individual photos at the event before joining distinguished guests to cut the bright red ribbon outside the Times Square store. H&M opened its first flagship New York City location in November 2013.

Last October, WWD reported that the Swedish fashion company was using technology to enhance individual shopping experiences for customers in its stores. New York City has become a major focus of the company’s investment in its locations.

“All 12 stores in Manhattan over the next few years will be either fully rebuilt, refreshed, relocated or simply brand new. So the customer in New York is going to get a really beautiful, elevated experience at H&M in New York,” said Michael Beaumont, head of expansion for H&M Americas, in an exclusive interview with WWD.

Although the fashion company, Hennes & Mauritz Group, faces competition from Zara and Shein, H&M is working to improve its fashion and update the retail experience for customers. It is also broadening apparel price points to become a holistically profitable company and surpass prior flat sales and lower profits.
