AMI NEWS: French brand Ami has named Carlo Mengucci its global marketing and communications director, effective Monday.
Mengucci is relocating to Paris, where the brand launched in 2011 by Alexandre Mattiussi is based.
“Carlo is a longtime friend who we are delighted to welcome at Ami,” said Mattiussi, who is the creative director of the brand. “We will write a beautiful chapter of the house’s history together, with our shared values.”
Mengucci, who will report to the designer and to Ami’s chief executive officer Nicolas Santi-Weil, will oversee the marketing, communications, events, talents and social media operations, as well as the press departments.
He was previously marketing and communications director at Etro, which he had joined in January 2019.
Before that, Mengucci worked as PR director for Aeffe Group, which controls the Moschino, Alberta Ferretti and Pollini brands. Earlier, he worked for Roberto Cavalli and Alberta Ferretti.
The organization of Ami’s communications and marketing departments has changed over the past few months as Marie Montiglio, head of global press, left in October and chief marketing officer Samy Cheddadi exited last summer.
Mattiussi, who started at Dior, moved to Givenchy and then to Marc Jacobs, and won the ANDAM Fashion Award in 2013. In 2021, Sequoia Capital China took a majority stake in the brand to further expand it globally.
