Mariah Carey embraced old Hollywood glamour while performing during the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special on Sunday in Los Angeles. The legendary artist, who is the recipient of 10 AMAs, sang a medley of hits from her 10th album, “The Emancipation of Mimi,” which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2025.
For the occasion, Carey selected a strapless Schiaparelli gown featuring a draped bodice and a floor-length train. Crafted from ecru satin and black velvet, her frock’s fitted bustier was fashioned with a half-moon neckline. Diamond-encrusted jewelry, including a statement necklace, earrings and bracelets completed her look.
The singer wore her honey blond tresses in waves with side bangs, while her makeup consisted of bronze eyeshadow, coral blush and a glossy nude lip.
Carey’s current Las Vegas residency also celebrates “The Emancipation of Mimi.” Her ongoing concert series, which is slated to end in early 2025, takes place at the Dolby Live theater.
Onstage, Carey wears custom looks by Robert Wun, Sophie Couture and Valdrin Sahiti. The latter label crafted a Swarovski-embellished strapless gown featuring nude mesh, while her gold Sophie Couture frock included a thigh-high slit. Wun designed a pink number for the singer that incorporated a detachable pleated skirt.
In lieu of a ceremony this year, the American Music Awards celebrates its 50th anniversary with a televised special airing on CBS and Paramount+. Performers include Raye, Stray Kids, Mariah Carey and Gladys Knight, while Kate Hudson, Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Lopez, among others, will make special appearances.
